In this video, I demonstrate how I perform a corticosteroid injection for trochanteric bursitis (also known as greater trochanteric pain syndrome). The video explains the anatomy of the outside of the hip, why injection therapy for trochanteric bursitis can be effective, and the technique I use to accurately target the painful area.I also discuss who is most likely to benefit from an injection, the potential risks and side effects, what to expect during the procedure, and the recovery process afterwards. Whilst injections can provide excellent pain relief, they work best when combined with appropriate rehabilitation exercises and addressing the underlying causes of the condition.
If you're struggling with persistent pain on the outside of your hip that hasn't responded to rest, exercise or medication, this video will give you a good understanding of what the procedure involves and whether it may be an appropriate treatment option for you.
